New Report Explores the Needs of the Community Living Workforce
The National Academies' Forum on Aging, Disability, and Independence, of which NIDILRR is one of the sponsoring agencies, has published a report, Strengthening the Workforce to Support Community Living and Participation for Older Adults and People with Disabilities. The report summarizes the results of a workshop held in June, where several NIDILRR grantees were invited presenters and discussants. The presentations focused on enhancing quality in the workforce through education, metrics, and standards; identified how technology can support the workforce; and discussed additional research, data, and policy needs for this field. The discussions explored the need for a healthcare workforce to support the independence of older adults and people with disabilities, including coordination within and between the workforce and individuals in the community.
